The team's first owners were insurance tycoon Sid Salomon Jr., his son, Sid Salomon III, and Robert L. Wolfson, who were granted the franchise in 1966. Sid Salomon III convinced his initially wary father to make a bid for the team. Former St. Louis Cardinals great Stan Musial and Musial's business partner Julius "Biggie" Garagnani were also members of the 16-man investment group that made the initial formal application for the franchise. Garagnani would never see the Blues franchise take the ice, as he died from a heart attack on June 19, 1967, less than three months before the Blues played their first preseason game. Upon acquiring the franchise in 1966, Salomon then spent several million dollars on extensive renovations for the 38-year-old arena, which increased the number of seats from 12,000 to 15,000.

0:00 - Game over! Blues win!
As recently as January, the Blues were in last place in the NHL standings. Despite being the worst of 31 teams to that point of the season, the Blues managed to turn things around and play more like the playoff contender most people predicted entering the season. Theyre scoring timely goals, playing with a strong combination of speed and physicality, and getting good goaltending.

With Game 6 set to be played in St. Louis on Sunday, the Blues have the opportunity to win their first Stanley Cup on home ice.
It's too late for Vegas, but it's not too late for Boston to overcome a missed call like St. Louis did with the hand pass. Just don't expect it to be used outwardly as a rallying cry.
The Blues were one of the last teams to add a goal horn, doing so during the 199293 season at the St. Louis Arena. All of these traditions carried over to the Kiel Center (now known as Enterprise Center) in 1994. After each goal, a bell is rung and each of the goals are counted by the crowd. Since 1990, Ron Baechle, also known as the "Towel Man" or "Towel Guy," has celebrated each goal by counting with the bell and throwing a towel into the crowd from section 314.

Chara left Monday's game with a laceration to his mouth and it is unknown if he will return.
The last time these two teams met was in the 1970 Stanley Cup Final, and although it was a lopsided four-game sweep in the Bruins favour, you might recall it ended on a historic goal that is immortalized in front of Bostons home arena. Heres hoping we get a similarly spectacular moment in 2019.

Schwartz finished the regular season with just 11 goals the lowest total in a (mostly) healthy season of his career. Three of those came in a March game against Edmonton and he scored in just three games from the trade deadline on. The 183 shots he put on net in 69 games was the best pace of his career, but luck just wasnt on his side in 2018-19. The only Blue to average more 5-on-5 shots per 60 than Schwartz in the regular season was Vladimir Tarasenko, who overcame his own struggles to finish strong. But Schwartz wrapped up with a shooting percentage of just six, which is about half of his career average.

The Blues' successes in the late 1960s, however, did not continue into the 1970s, as the Stanley Cup playoff format changed and the Chicago Black Hawks were moved into the Western Division. The Blues lost Bowman, who joined the Montreal Canadiens following a power-sharing dispute with Sid Salomon III (who was taking an increasing role in team affairs), as well as Hall, Plante, Goyette and ultimately Berenson, who were all lost to retirement or trade. The Berenson trade, however, did bring then-Detroit Red Wings star center Garry Unger, who ultimately scored 30 goals in eight consecutive seasons while breaking the NHL's consecutive games played record. Defensively, however, the Blues were less than stellar and saw Chicago and the Philadelphia Flyers overtake the Division. After missing the playoffs for the first time in 197374, the Blues ended up in the Smythe Division after a League realignment. This division was particularly weak, and in 197677, the Blues won it while finishing five games below .500, though this would be their last playoff appearance in the decade.

But thats far from a slam dunk. Conventionally, the weighting in Conn Smythe voting is 50 per cent credit for your performance in Rounds 1-3 and the other 50 per cent is tied to what you do in the final series. Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury arrived at the final last season with an even more historic first three rounds that had him chasing the all-time playoff record for save percentage (.950). But once there, Fleury never allowed less than three goals as his Golden Knights were quickly defeated by Washington.

"I'm not talking about it," the usually talkative Maroon said. "If you want to talk about Game 6, I'll talk about Game 6."
